Onions.
The State Trading Organization (STO) on Wednesday slashed the prices of two food staples – onions and potatoes.
According to STO, it has lowered the price of a kilo of onions from MVR 12 to MVR 10, and a sack of onions from MVR 250 to MVR 190.
Meanwhile, the price of a kilo of potatoes has been lowered from MVR 14 to MVR 120, and a sack of potatoes from MVR 300 to MVR 160.
STO said it made the price revisions in order to ensure affordable access to such food staples during Ramadan.
The organization added that it is also engaged in numerous efforts to stabilize the price of food stables and ensure a steady supply.
Food staples sold by STO are available for retail from STO People’s Choice outlets, and for wholesale from STO’s wholesale centers.
